I grew up in the Mining District, graduated from WNMU with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, and pursued my MFA at Illinois State University. While working at the Bayard Public Library, I secured funding for the Bayard Public Library Mural and helped paint it with the local high school. I also wrote grants for the City of Bayard for the park space next to the library, Bayard Community Center, and the Union Hall. What interested me most about writing these grants was improving the conditions where I grew up and preserving our local history. By joining swnmACT, my hope is to continue improving our communities and for others to gain knowledge of the treasures of the southwest.
